“Agave” Forum for Oil Painting Concludes in Lattakia

Distinguished artworks, which embodied  the beauty of the place and the spirit of the deep-rooted  history, were the outcome of “Agave” Forum for oil painting recently held at the national museum in Lattakia governorate.

The artistic event, which was held by the Directorates of Fine Arts and Culture in Lattakia in cooperation  with the United Nations Development Program ( UNDP) , brought together an elite of Lattakia’s artists and young talents who managed to make a place for themselves on the fine art scene.

The thirty artworks were characterized by the diversity of themes and techniques that highlighted the depth and specificity of each artist’s experience forming a state of visual artistic dialogue.

The Director of Culture in Lattakia Majd Sarim explained in a statement to SANA that the forum was held in this session in Lattakia, where it was launched in  2015 and   after that it had been organized in several governorates with the participation of prominent and young artists.

 

He  noted the contribution of the Future Youth Team of the UNDP to the success of the forum by providing various necessary equipment to the participants, stressing the Ministry of Culture’s support for any initiative that contributes to the development of the community culture as it is a participatory process.

Plastic artist, Ka’ed Haidar, pointed to the importance of the forum in bringing together the different artistic generations to learn about the cultural climate of young artists and their experiences, who presented important works in an open place that allows everyone to see the stages of the formation of the painting.

On his part, artist Zuhair Qashour participated in two works one of them was a scene from the museum that combines natural beauty and antiquities to present a documentary state through  the  aesthetic of his artistic work .

Artist Mario Youssef considered the Agave Forum, which embodies the legend of a girl who sacrificed herself to protect the city of Lattakia, as a beautiful inheritance of our history through art, praising the works of young artists, which formed a beautiful surprise and a promising future for the Forum to present high-level works despite the short implementation period.

In turn , Head of the Lattakia’s branch of the  Fine Artists Union Farid Reslan, who participated in two works, confirmed that the forums allow the artist to see his message and his idea reach the audience, who watches the various stages of its formation.

He added the forums also help artists to benefit from theexperiences of the participant artists in terms of technology and various  techniques .
