DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar Al-Assad received on Sunday the Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, and the accompanying delegation.
The talks between the President and the visiting Russian delegation dealt with the cooperation between Syria and Russia in the field of fighting terrorism and the economic field, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The agency quoted Lavrentiev and Vershinin as saying that the current visit of the Russian delegation comes upon directives of President Vladimir Putin to enhance and expand the work with Syria in all fields and at all levels.
The two officials asserted that Russia is ready to actively contribute to the process of reconstruction and rehabilitating the infrastructures that have been damaged by terrorism as well as setting up investment companies with Syria in the fields of power and agriculture for the common interest of the two friendly peoples and for activating Syrian economy.
Moreover, the talks tackled the recent developments in Syria and the region.
