Qibiya massacre is witness to Israel’s genocide crimes against the Palestinians

68 years have passed since the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians in the village of Qibiya, northwest of Ramallah in the West Bank. This massacre is one of the most heinous crimes of genocide that the occupation continues to commit amid international community’s disregard of shedding the Palestinian blood.

At 7:30 pm on October 14, 1953, the Zionist gangs led by the war criminal Ariel Sharon, besieged the village, isolating it from its surroundings and planting mines on the roads leading to it. They besieged the neighboring villages to prevent the Palestinians from moving to support the people

The massacre began with heavy artillery bombardment of Palestinian homes, then Zioists stormed it. Its people confronted it and continued to resist until their ammunition ran out. The Zionists were not satisfied with that, so they booby-trapped the houses amid heavy shooting to force the Palestinians to stay in them and blow them up and deprive them of any chance to escape.

The massacre, which was described as the second Deir Yassin massacre, continued until the morning of October 15, in which 67 Palestinians were martyred, including whole families, dozens were injured and  56 homes, the village mosque, school and water tank were destroyed.

The massacre aroused widespread international condemnation, and on the 24th  of November, the UN Security Council issued Resolution No. 101 in which it condemned the Israeli occupation authorities without taking any action to deter the occupation entity and do justice to the Palestinian people.

The Israeli  occupation continues to commit massacres  against the Palestinians and plunder their lands, while the international community’s response is limited to statements of condemnation and denunciation, which the occupation sees as a green light to persist in its crimes against the Palestinian people.
