Throughout the Pink Month several awareness activities and free health services to be held in Homs

Civil organizations and associations in Homs contribute to several awareness activities planned throughout the pink month of October in addition to providing free health services regarding the early identification of breast cancer.
 
Engineer Samar Al-Sibai, Director of Labor and Social Affairs explained that many activities the NGOs will be carried out throughout the pink month, including sending mobile clinics to the countryside of the governorate, raising awareness of the need for early detection of cancer, and the free clinical examination for women.
 
Al-Sibai pointed out that there are a number of associations that have participated with their volunteer cadres in these activities, as the Al-Birr and Social Services Association provides free services at the mammography center in the association’s hospital in Al-Waer neighborhood and the clinical examination within the Dr. Anis Al-Masry clinic in Al-Hamidiya neighborhood.
 
She added that the Islamic Charitable Society would provide a free mammography service within the clinic of Dr. Raif Al-Akhras, in addition to an awareness campaign on breast cancer.
 
The Charitable Al-Afia Fund will cover 50% of the breast surgery operations costs, in addition to conducting a free echo-scan at the MRI Al-Afia Center. The Orthodox Association of the” Support the Poor in Old Homs, provides a free Echo imaging service during the month of October in the Ghassani clinic for all women and girls for early detection of the disease. Lamset Shifa Association would also implement awareness sessions within the association’s health center in the Al-Dar Al-Kabira area.
 
Al-Sibai added that the Karam Al-Shami Association carries out awareness sessions and distributes brochures on the early detection of breast cancer. While the Family Planning Association carries out, in addition to awareness sessions, a clinical examination for women who are at high risk of breast cancer in women’s clinics in the neighborhoods of Al-Waer, Baba Amr, Al-Khalidiya, Al-Muhajireen, Al-Dablan, and the towns and regions of Shein, Taldo and Taldehab.
