The Kazakh Foreign Ministry comments on the date of the new meeting in the Astana format

Nur-Sultan (ST): The Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced that the guarantor states of the Astana process, Russia, Iran and Turkey, did not submit a request to hold the next international meeting on Syria in the Astana format in the capital, Nur-Sultan.

 

In response to a question about the date of the next meeting in Nur-Sultan, sources in the ministry’s press service office, according to what was reported by TASS, said, “The guarantor countries have not yet contacted the Kazakh Foreign Ministry on the subject of talks on Syria.” 

Earlier reports indicated that the new meeting in the Astana format on Syria might be held in the Kazakh capital this October.

In their final statement to the sixteenth international meeting of the Astana format, which was held in the Kazakh capital last July, the guarantor states of the Astana Process reiterated their strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria, stressing the continuation of joint action to combat terrorism in all its forms and names in Syria and rejecting separatist agendas aimed at undermining its sovereignty. and its territorial integrity.
