Dubai (ST): The “Expo 2020 Dubai” exhibition, which is hosted by the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of 192 countries, including Syria, opened in the UAE city of Dubai yesterday after it was postponed for a whole year due to the “Covid 19” pandemic, and it will start receiving visitors today.
The Emirates News Agency, WAM, stated that the largest and most prestigious exhibition of its kind in the world will extend to over a period of six months under the slogan “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future” and will focus on three main axes: “Sustainability, Mobility and Opportunities” in order to shape the future of the world through a cultural and creative dialogue whose goal is Providing solutions, innovations and ideas that contribute to realizing the aspirations of peoples and finding more efficient mechanisms to activate joint action towards a better tomorrow for all.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition included a visual and audio presentation in which the latest theatrical techniques and visual effects were used, with the participation of 910 performers from the UAE and 64 countries from around the world.
Expo 2020 Dubai will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, and is the first international “Expo” organized in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
Syria will participate in the exhibition with a pavilion under the slogan “Together, the future is ours.” It will present a comprehensive view of Syrian history, culture, arts, and economy, and will be like a window displaying the rich and ancient Syrian civilization.
According to the organizers of the Syria pavilion, visitors will learn about several stations that showcase some of the most important Syrian historical contributions to human civilization. They will be able to see a replica of the Ugarit alphabet, which is agreed upon as the first alphabet in history. They will learn about the oldest musical notations discovered in the world, and the pavilion will focus on the development of the first agricultural societies in Syria.
