British Labor Party calls for sanctions against Israel

London, (ST) – The British Labor Party voted to condemn the apartheid policy pursued by the Israeli occupation authorities and the brutal practices against the Palestinians. The party demanded imposing sanctions on the occupation entity and upholding the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy.

The British Independent newspaper reported that party members voted by an “absolute majority” during the party’s annual conference held in Brighton on a proposal to stop the establishment of settlements. They also voted to cancel any annexation plans and end the occupation of Palestinian lands in the West Bank and the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.

According to the proposal, the party members demanded imposing sanctions on “Israel” and pressure on it to remove the apartheid wall it has built in the West Bank and respect for the rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with the laws and resolutions of international legitimacy, especially the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes.

The party members refer to the reports of human rights groups that “conclusively concluded that Israel practices the crime of apartheid as defined by the United Nations.”

The United Nations and the European members of the UN Security Council had called in a statement earlier on the Israeli occupation entity to stop demolishing Palestinian homes in the West Bank and seizing their property.

The Israeli occupation entity continues its aggressive and settlement practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, ignoring international resolutions, especially Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegality of settlements and calls for their cessation.
