“Together we can”… a civil initiative to clean and beautify the old city of Homs

The people of Old Homs, in cooperation with the City Council, implemented a voluntary initiative entitled “Together We Can” to clean and beautify the neighborhoods of the Old City of Homs.

The initiative, which was launched from the Al-Hamidiya neighborhood and Bustan Al-Diwan, aims to restore the brilliance and beauty of these neighborhoods with the help of the mechanisms and workshops of the city council to remove the destruction and distortion that affected their historical landmarks.

The Director of Hygiene in the City Council, Eng. Imad Al-Saleh, explained that the workshops continue to carry out repair and rehabilitation works, clean the metal- covered holes, remove waste and debris, in addition to sterilizing containers, and securing tanks to rinse the main streets.

Nizar Khuzam, the man behind the initiative, pointed out that it aims to clean the neighborhood streets, raise awareness of the importance of cleanness in general, and enhance social responsibility. He indicated that they have distributed and put up awareness posters on the importance of maintaining cleanliness, as well as the need to adhere to the times of throwing garbage within the designated places.

Participants pointed out the importance of this initiative in promoting collective awareness regarding the importance of hygiene and beauty and making it a spontaneous behavior.
