650 dentists participate in ‘scientific days’ at Al-Assad University Hospital

Damascus (ST): About 650 dentists participate in the’ scientific days’ organized by the Damascus Countryside Branch of the Syrian Dental Syndicate over a period of three days at Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus with the aim of keeping pace with developments in the profession and meeting the needs of dentists and informing them of the latest scientific skills and theoretical information used in this field.

Research papers and scientific lectures deal with a number of topics, including the applications of 3D radiography in the maxillary region, the basic principles in choosing bone grafts, methods of managing periodontal depressions and treating periodontal tissues between tissue-guided restoration and gum grafts, and the practitioner’s plan for extraction.

 

In a statement, the head of the Damascus Countryside Dentists Syndicate, Dr. Mazen Moussa, drew attention to the developments taking place in the dental profession in Syria and keeping pace with the latest international research and technologies.

Dr. Aziz Mawas, Chairman of the Scientific Committee, indicated that the topics of the ‘scientific days’ were chosen based on a questionnaire distributed to students of dental faculties with the aim of improving their performance to provide the best medical services to patients.

Dr. Ghassan Basit, Head of the Implant Department at the National Center for Dental Medical Specialties and the Syrian Board, gave a presentation on the importance of using bone grafting in conjunction with dental implants, indicating that any doctor can perform it after following a number of courses in this field.

The success rate of dental implants in Syria is close to 100 percent, according to the specialist, Dr. Lina Yazbek, stressing the skill of the Syrian doctor in this field in terms of keeping pace with the latest research and developments taking place worldwide.

The ‘scientific days’ that started yesterday and will continue until tomorrow are accompanied by a medical exhibition of the latest medical equipment and materials used in dental implants and pharmaceuticals, in addition to training courses in the fields of cosmetics, dental implants and methods that enable the doctor to deal with emergency cases and chronic diseases.
