Al-Mikdad to Al-Mayadeen: The United States is the biggest violator of the UN Charter and human rights

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad has stressed that the United States is the biggest violator of the UN Charter and human rights, pointing out that if Washington abides by this charter, many wars will come to an end.

Interviewed by Al-Mayadeen TV, marking his participation in the meetings of the UN General Assembly, Al-Mikdad said that the administration of the US President Joe Biden is still new and it has to prove its commitment to the UN Charter.

The interview will be broadcast on Al-Mayadeen Sunday afternoon.

“When the armed groups were active in Ghouta, we used to deliver humanitarian aid to citizens there, while Washington and its allies resorted to border crossings to deliver aid to terrorist organizations,” Al-Mikdad affirmed, according to Al-Mayadeen Arabic.

“The so-called donor countries, which are all western countries, are imposing the harshest kind of blockade on the Syrian people,” he said, adding that “the blockade imposed by Washington on Syria, with the support of European countries, has created many economic problems.”

“We don’t trust western countries’ intentions. They are the ones that created terrorism in Syria and they are still providing free media services to the activities of the terrorist organizations,” Al-Mikdad went on to say.

Al-Mikdad made it clear that sanctions have led to imposing inhuman policies that badly affected Lebanon, in particular, asserting that the “Caesar Act” serves Israel and aims at tightening the siege on some countries that seek maintaining their sovereignty.

Concerning the situation of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon, Al-Mikdad said that “many Syrian citizens left Syria to Lebanon because the terrorist groups forced them to do so,” clarifying that what prevents the Syrians from returning to their country is the economic pressure being practiced by the United States on Syria.

“Does the Caesar Act encourage the Syrian citizen to return home?” Al-Mikdad asked.

“Of course not,” he answered, noting the many decrees issued by President Bashar Al-Assad to encourage the voluntary return of the displaced citizens to their homeland.

Al-Mikdad said that he held meetings with many Arab foreign ministers on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly’s session, clarifying that he held talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri on the possibility of opening new contact channels and forgetting the past.

The Syrian Arab News Agency SANA, published some excerpts from Al-Mikdad interview with Al-Mayadeen.

According to the agency, Al-Mikdad affirmed that Syria has proved its ability to foil the conspiracies hatched against it.

On the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territories, Al-Mikdad reiterated that Syria doesn’t fear Israel or the countries supporting it, because Syria has a wise policy based on responding to these barbaric attacks at suitable time.
