Iran reaffirms its support for Syria’s unity and sovereignty

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian has reaffirmed Tehran’s principled policy and firm stance on supporting Syria’s unity and sovereignty, reiterating that the illegal presence of foreign troops in Syria has exacerbated the crisis in the country.

Abullahian made the remarks during his meeting with the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on the sidelines of the meetings of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The Iranian minister condemned the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, urging the United Nations to play a more effective role to lift these sanctions and find a political solution to the crisis in the country.
