A liberated Palestinian prisoner died on Wednesday evening due to the deterioration of his health as a result of deliberate medical neglect in the Israeli occupation prisons.
According to Wafa Agency, the Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission announced that the cancer-sick prisoner Hussein Masalmeh was martyred in Istishari Hospital in Ramallah in the West Bank.
Director of the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs in Bethlehem, Munqith Abu Atwan, said that since the end of last year, Masalmeh has faced a deterioration in his health and suffered from aches that lasted for more than two months as a result of the systematic policy of medical negligence practiced by the occupation against him in the Negev detention center. Then he reached a difficult health stage and was taken to the hospital to find out later that he had leukemia and that the disease was in an advanced stage.
It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities arrested the prisoner Masalma in 2002 and sentenced him to 20 years in prison, of which he spent about 19 years.
About five thousand Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails face harsh detention conditions, including about 600 prisoners who need urgent medical intervention.
