With the participation of Syria, the Fifth Arab Water Forum opened in Dubai

Dubai (ST):  The Fifth Arab Water Forum was opened in Dubai under the slogan “Arab Water Security for Peace and Sustainable Development” with the participation of Syria. During the opening of the forum, which was attended by the Syrian Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Ra’ad, and his accompanying delegation, the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, Suhail Al Mazrouei, and President of the Arab Water Council, Mahmoud Abu Zeid, stress was laid on the importance of taking concrete steps to develop policies to achieve Arab water security to promote peace and sustainability.

 

The conference will address several issues, most notably achieving water security, climatic changes and their effects on Arab water security, modern technologies and effective water management to help achieve sustainable Arab water security and international water resources and their role in achieving peace and development, challenges arising from shared water and rivers, water policy and diplomacy for international water management and the development of legislation regulating and establishing effective partnerships for the management and development of water resources.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Arab Water Technology Exhibition was opened with the participation of Dr. Raad and his accompanying delegation.

The activities of the forum will continue from the 21st to the 23rd of September 2021.
