Raisi: The presence of the US occupation in Syria and Iraq impedes the progress of the region

Tehran (ST): Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi stressed that the presence of the US occupation forces in Syria and Iraq impedes democracy and the will of peoples to advance in the region, describing the Zionist entity as the largest governmental terrorist organization.

In a speech via video conference to the 76th annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, Raisi said that the American presence in Syria and Iraq constitutes the biggest obstacle to achieving democracy and activating the will of the people, explaining that “the peoples from Palestine to Syria, Yemen and Afghanistan are paying the price for the recklessness of American officials and their leaders,” recalling the sacrifices of the two martyrs, Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, assistant commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces in combating terrorism, stressing that without their efforts, the terrorist organization “ISIS” would have been a neighbor of the Europeans, stressing that selective behavior is not a solution to the problem of terrorism.

Raisi said that America manufactures terrorism on one side and claims to fight it on the other. The Iranian president pointed out that the United States did not leave Iraq and Afghanistan, but rather was expelled from there, stressing that what the region is witnessing shows the defeat of the project of imposing a Western identity.

The Iranian president also stressed that the Zionist entity constitutes a governmental terrorist organization that adopts an agenda of killing women and children in the Palestinian territories and imposes a comprehensive siege on the people of the Gaza Strip, which has turned it into the largest prison in the world.”

Regarding the Iranian nuclear file, the Iranian president reiterated the peacefulness of his country’s nuclear file, stressing that there is no place for nuclear weapons in the Iranian defense doctrine and deterrence policy.

The Iranian president said that he supports the resumption of negotiations to save the agreement concluded on his country’s nuclear program, which have been stalled since his election, if its ultimate goal is to lift all unjust embargoes and sanctions on it.
