Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Security Council should act against Israel’s illegal settlement expansion in West Bank

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has renewed its call on the international community, mainly the Security Council, to implement the UN Resolution No. 2334 for 2016 which affirms the illegality of the Israeli settlement building activities in the occupied Palestinian territories and calls for stopping them.

In a statement on Monday, the ministry said that the Israeli occupation continue to confiscate swathes of Palestinian land in the West Bank with the aim of expanding its settlement activities and creating a geographic contact between the settlement outposts established in the West Bank, thereby turning the area into a huge settlement bloc linked to the settlements built on the Palestinian lands occupied in 1948.

Expanding settlement building undermines every chance to establish an independent Palestinian state which necessitates an urgent action by the international community to stop this crime, the ministry pointed out.
