48 thousand Turkish companies have become bankrupt, says Turkish parliamentarian

Ankara,(ST) –  Representative Vali Agbaba of the Republican People’s Party, the largest opposition party in Turkey, revealed that 48,000 companies and commercial establishments went bankrupt during the first eight months of this year. This bankrupt happened at a time when Recep Erdogan’s regime claimed 21.7 percent economic growth.

The newspaper “Today Zaman” quoted Agbaba as saying that, “it seems that the owners of commercial activities did not reflect on the growth rate announced by the government.”  He added that 61,736 of the owners of commercial activities ended these activities in the second quarter of the year, at a time when the government says that there is growth in the economy.

At least 48,000 companies and commercial establishments have become bankrupt since the beginning of the year.

Agbaba affirmed that 35% of merchant bankruptcy cases occurred in August and September, at a time when life began to return to normal after the lifting of the ban on Corona.

Agbaba went on to say that, one of the surprising data is a decrease in the number of newly registered traders and craftsmen in the period from January to August of this year by 28 percent compared to the same period in the previous year.

It is noteworthy that, the failures in Erdogan’s internal and external policies at the political and economic levels over the years reflected negatively on Turkey’s economy, which put unprecedented pressure on the Turkish lira and led to the spread of unemployment.
