Abigail Hall, writer and professor of economics at Bellarmine University, USA, confirmed in an article published by the American website the Hill that the war waged by Washington on several countries around the world under the pretext of combating terrorism not only failed to achieve its alleged goals, but also caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and led to the spread of extremism outside and inside the United States.
Hall went on to say: For 20 years, we’ve watched U.S. counterterrorism policy fail to achieve its stated objectives. Instead, these policies have cost hundreds of thousands of lives, destabilized millions and contributed to unrest and tyranny at home. What started as a campaign to rid the world of terrorism by intervening abroad has instead engendered extremism in our own backyard.
The US policies have directly fueled the expansion of far-right extremist groups and led to their progressive militarization, while drastically eroding our civil liberties.
