Syromolotov: US interference in Syria and other countries led to the emergence of terrorist organizations
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov has affirmed that the American interference in the internal affairs of Syria, Iraq and Libya has led to the emergence of terrorist organizations which have caused “headache” to the entire world.
Interviewed by the Russian Novosti news agency, Syromolotov said that the United States’ disregard for the international law, through illegally interfering in the internal affairs of Iraq, Libya and Syria and through violating the territorial integrity of these countries led to the emergence of the most dangerous terrorist organizations which have later caused headache to the entire world.”
“The main lesson that the international community should get from the US counter-terrorism policy is to understanding that the war on terror must be conducted on the basis of equality with strict adherence to the rules and principles of the international law,” the Russian official added.
Terrorism threat has grown greatly over the past years, Syromolotov said, pointing out that “new challenges, that countries cannot ignore, have emerged, including the gunmen’s using of drones to prepare for terrorist attacks, in addition to intensifying the recruitment of new supporters of the terrorist groups inside prisons, promoting extremist ideas and creating new sources of funding.”
He urged more international cooperation to face terrorism threat, stressing Russia’s major role in these efforts.
