DAMASCUS, (ST)_The Ministry of Transportation announced on Thursday that the Aleppo International Airport will receive the first Syrian flight coming from Yerevan, Armenia’s capital, Next Saturday, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA).
The agency quoted Director of Civil Aviation in the ministry Basem Mansour as saying the resumption of flights between Syria and Armenia comes within the framework of the agreements signed between the two countries at the beginning of this year.
“The resumption of flights, especially to Aleppo, will facilitate the visit of Syrian expatriates in Armenia to their houses in the city of Aleppo and will enhance economic and cultural exchange between the two countries,” Mansour added.
For his part, Director of Developing Business and Human Resources at the “Sham Wings” company Osama Sate’a said that the flight between Syria and Armenia had stopped for 10 years due to the terror war on Syria.
After an eight-year hiatus due to the Syrian Civil War, flights will resume on 19 February 2020.
