Syrian Arab army wipes out arms dumps in Homs and Idlib provinces

PROVINCES,(ST)_A bomb-making factory was found north of Damascus countryside and several arms caches were shelled outside Homs and Idlib provinces.

In details, the armed forces found on Thursday a bomb-making factory and a tunnel in al-Qabon suburb, just 3km to the north-east of Damascus, as they were cracking down on foreign-backed terrorists.

An official source told SANA: “Tens of booby-traps, grenades, rockets, modern telecommunication devices, and big quantity of raw materials for making explosives were found in the factory.” 

It added that the discovery of the 250-meter tunnel, which links al-Arakil building in al-Qabon suburb with al-Senaeyeh area in Jobar, comes a day after discovering two others linking al-Qabon with Jobar and Zamalka suburbs.

At the same time, it was reported that the armed forces shelled a hideout of terrorists in Hajjera area, south of Damascus countryside, and carried out qualitative operations in al-Mleha , Doma and Der Salman areas.

The operations resulted in eliminating an unknown number of terrorists, many of whom were foreign nationals.

Army destroys hideouts in Homs quarters

Relative to the operations in the country’s central Homs province, a military source said: “several hideouts of terrorists were wiped out in Joret al-Shayyah and in quarters of al-Qosor and al-Khaledeyeh.”

It pointed out that the armed forces destroyed heavy machine guns of the armed terrorist groups in the northern Homs countryside and outside al-Rastan.

Around 160Km to the east of Homs – in Palmyra to be specific- an arms cache of the so-called “Lewa’a al-Islam” terrorists was obliterated in al-Tiba town while the armed forces warded off a  terrorists’ attack on garrisons in many areas.

Other confrontations took place in the northern Aleppo province where dozens of terrorists were reportedly killed and three mortars were destroyed.

More terrorists were crushed in Idlib province, around 59km to the south-west of Aleppo, as the armed forces bombarded an arms cache in abo al-Dohor area and a hideout in Ariha area.

While others  from al-Nusra Front died during a quarrel which broke out among them in Afes town in the same province (Idlib) over splitting loots.

In a separate development, terrorists detonated an explosive device pasted to the car of the assistant minister of labour, Rakan Ibrahim, in al-Baramkeh area (in the capital) as he was getting in.  

The official, who was seriously wounded, was admitted to the hospital.
