DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Miqdad discussed on Monday with Khalida Bouzar, Assistant Secretary General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States cooperation relations between Syria and the UNDP in addition to the strategic plan for the upcoming 4 years.
According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), Al-Miqdad talked about the priorities of development works that Syria needs now and in the near future, affirming that the Syrian government considers the UNDP as a reliable partner in achieving sustainable development.
The minister underscored the need to create a balance between the humanitarian and relief and development works, early recovery projects and resilience building.
He referred to the economic and social repercussions of the unilateral coercive measures, which hinder carrying out further effective development projects, whether in cooperation with the UNDP or other United Nations agencies and bodies.
For her part, Bouzar talked about the strategic vision of the UNDP and the importance of expanding its work in Syria in fields of resilience building and early recovery, in addition to the development field, which is a main goal for the UNDP.
