Syrian artist Lina Deeb participates in an exhibition in Ukraine with painting on civilization of Ugarit
Plastic artist Lina Deeb participated in the Syrian collective art exhibition in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, with a painting entitled “Gods in Ugarit” that embodies the civilization of Ugarit.
The painting included the rituals of life in that historical era with symbols and writings in the letters of the oldest alphabet in history.
Plastic artist Deeb formulated her painting with a contemporary artistic formation based on adopting the color purple due to its specificity in regards the Ugarit civilization.
Regarding her participation and the importance of the exhibition, the plastic artist Deeb said in a statement to SANA, “The importance of this event lies in contributing to the dissemination of Syrian plastic art globally and briefing foreign artists on the modern experiences of Syrian artists and their persistence in keeping pace with international plastic movements.”
Deputy Chief of the Syrian Plastic Artists Union underlined the importance of holding this exhibition in these circumstances that Syria is going through, including siege and difficult economic and living conditions. Syrian artists continue their artistic production as a kind of continuity and proof of existence in order to spread the Syrian cultural identity and its historical and cultural legacy.
Deeb confirmed that the Syrian community in Ukraine and the sculptor Afif Agha worked through this Syrian cultural event in Ukraine to boost cultural and artistic cooperation between the two countries and to provide other opportunities for artists and those interested to carry out more activities.
It is noteworthy that the exhibition was held as part of a cultural event organized by the Syrian Honorary Consulate in Ukraine in cooperation with the Syrian community in Kiev under the supervision of the sculptor Afif Agha.
