President Al-Assad: Europe’s wrong polices in the Middle East are behind its current suffering from the refugee crisis and terrorism

President Bashar Al-Assad on Saturday received Thierry Mariani, member of the European Parliament (MEP) and member of the French National Rally Party, and the accompanying delegation.

Talks dealt with developments in Syria and the region.

President Al-Assad answered questions by the delegation members on the situation on the ground in Syria and the difficult circumstances the Syrian people are experiencing due to the unfair sanctions and the blockade imposed by the west on them.

President Al-Assad stressed the importance of dialogue at the parliamentary level as well as at the cultural level with the aim of analyzing and understanding the developments and changes taking place in the region and the world.

He affirmed the importance of visits by parliamentary and cultural delegations to Syria and the region so that they can see things as they are on the ground and so that these delegations can link between political statements and reality, because Europe’s current suffering from the refuge crisis and from terrorism and extremism has been caused by its wrong policies in the Middle East.

Talks during the meeting also dealt with the relation between religion and politics and the massive challenges facing countries of the world due to extremism in different societies, including in Europe because of the failure of European governments to adopt a right policy that achieves immigrants’ integration and maintain their original identity at the same time.
