White House: Taliban seized US military equipment

Washington (ST): The White House acknowledged that the Taliban have seized US military equipment.

The US National Security Adviser, John Sullivan, told a news conference in response to a question about military equipment, after a videotape showed Taliban fighters celebrating around US Black Hawk helicopters belonging to the Afghan army at Kandahar airport in the south of the country:  “It was not given to the Taliban and was given to the Afghan army at the request of fugitive President Ashraf Ghani,” stressing that US President Joe Biden agreed to leave the equipment to the Afghan army, despite his realization that it would reach the movement and that they would not return it to the Americans.
