“Above the ground” film shows the impacts of the war on Syria

The Consulate of Syria in Kiev in cooperation with the Syrian community in Ukraine recently held a cultural event during which the documentary film “Above the ground”, which was directed  by Somer Agha, was screened for the first time to the public.
 
Agha told the Syrian Arab News Agency SANA: “Above the ground” is a film that sheds light on the history of Syria, which the cradle of civilizations, through a special monological method, vision and internal analysis, as a Syrian person who sees his country after a long absence in a different way than it was before the war.” 
 
The 50-minute film shows the destruction that occurred in Syria as a result of terrorist acts.
 
Agha pointed out that he relied on the language of the photos by presenting internal supportive feelings that describe the internal conflict between the human feeling towards the place and the presentation of realistic scenes of the destruction caused by terrorism.
 
The director also tried to convey the image of the resilience of the Syrian society, focusing on the elements of its victory over terrorism.
The Syrian and Ukrainian audiences who watched the film expressed their  opinions through words and comments they wrote , saying that  Agha has succeeded in conveying the message of the film.
 
He concluded by saying: “Our belief in the importance of making the film made us exert all our efforts to accomplish it despite the difficult circumstances our country is going through in order to show the truth of what is happening in Syria to the world. The broadcast of the film  postponed for 2 years because of the outbreak of the Corona virus pandemic.”
