On August 17th, Iraqi forces announced the launch of a security operation to hunt down the remnants of ISIS terrorists in the Governorate of Diyala, east of Baghdad.
“The army, in partnership with the Popular Mobilization Forces, launched this morning a large-scale security operation to pursue the remnants of “ISIS” terrorists within three main sectors in Diyala.
The operation includes searching and securing the Hamrin Lake Basin, the Naryn River and the North Axis,” the Iraqi News Agency, INA, quoted the commander of Diyala operations for the Popular Mobilization Forces, Talib al-Moussawi, as saying in a statement.
Al-Moussawi indicated that the operation will continue with the support of the army’s airplanes until its goals are achieved by eliminating the remnants of “ISIS” terrorists and destroy their hideouts.
