Syrian doctor Chadi Khatieb nominated for the award of the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the world
After being chosen as one of the 2021 top Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) in JCI Syria in the medical innovation category, the Syrian Doctor Chadi Khatieb has been nominated to take part in the 2021 JCI world Ten Outstanding Young Persons competition.
In a statement to SANA, Khatieb affirmed the importance of his participation in this competition with the aim of proving that the Syrian youths are distinguished and creative and they can achieve advanced positions in different fields at the world level despite the difficulties they are facing.
He added that his participation in this world competition comes after creating an adjuvant therapy for Cutaneous Leishmaniasis through using the extract of pistachio shells, in addition to an adjuvant therapy to get rid of heavy metal toxins through using the extract of the Syrian Eryngos plant.
Khatieb, from Aleppo, is a member of the teaching staff at the Faculties of Pharmacy of Al-Manara Private University and Al-Rashid Private Universities for Sciences and Technology. He is also a PhD student at the Department of Pharmacology and Medicinal Plants at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Damascus University, aiming at obtaining a second PhD. He obtained his first PhD from the Department of the History of Medical Sciences of Aleppo University.
The young Syrian doctor won several prizes at Al-Basel Exhibition for Creativity and Invention. He also won medals and prizes in scientific events in China, Britain, Iran and Croatia in the field of herbal medicine.
He represented Syria in several international conferences on complementary and alternative medicine. He also wrote several books and bulletins on medicinal herbs and he is greatly interested in the Arab medical heritage.
The JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (JCI TOYP) program honors ten outstanding young people under the age of 40 each year. These individuals exemplify the spirit of the JCI Mission, and they serve as stellar examples of entrepreneurial spirit and ethical leadership. Whether through a business, scientific endeavors or their impact on society, these young active citizens turn challenges into opportunities on a local and global level. The final ten TOYP nominees will be honored during the 2021 JCI World Congress.
