Washington failure in Afghanistan is behind the Taliban’s seizure of power, says Kabulov

MOSCOW, (ST) – The Russian President’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov said that “the Taliban’s seizure of power in Afghanistan was not the result of certain agreements, but rather the result of Washington’s failure in this country.”

Commenting on those who say that the seizure of power in Afghanistan was the result of some agreements, Kabulov said that whoever promotes such ideas is trying in some way or another to justify the failure of the Americans in Afghanistan and portray what happened as having been planned in advance, according to RIA Novosti Agency.

Kabulov indicated that, the Taliban’s capture of the Afghan capital, Kabul, was a surprise, because we proceeded from the understanding that the Afghan army, regardless of developments, will continue to fight and resist.

The rapid developments in Afghanistan come after US President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw US forces from it to end the two-decade-long occupation and invasion of this country.
