The Agriculture Directorate in Homs declared on Sunday the governorate’s production of figs hit 2,912 tons during the current season, mostly for rainfed crops out of the total cultivated area of 2,719 dunums.
Head of the directorate, Engineer Nazih Al-Rifai, said in a statement to Syrian News Agency (SANA) that the total number of trees in the irrigated area reached 8,093 trees, including 7,863 fruitful trees.
The Directorate of Agriculture also estimated the governorate’s production of walnuts at 778 tons during the current season, out of the total cultivated area of 4,471 dunums, all of which are irrigated ones.
The Director of Agriculture stated that the total number of trees in the irrigated area amounted to 44,582 trees, including 44,072 fruitful trees, and there are no rainfed areas.
