Under Erdogan’s rule, about 19,000 suicides were recorded in Turkey

Ankara (ST): Turkish official data revealed that about 19,000 Turkish citizens committed suicide during the past ten years due to the growing despair and frustration created by the Justice and Development Party in Turkish society.

In response to a query about the number of suicides, submitted by Fili Agbaba, a representative of the Republican People’s Party, the Turkish Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, according to what was reported by the Turkish Zaman newspaper, said, “18,772 people committed suicide between January 1, 2019 and January 1, 2020 including 1190 university graduates and 853 students.

 

According to the statistics of the Turkish Ministry of Health, an average of 1887 people committed suicide every year, or about six people per day, while this number does not include the period of the Corona pandemic between the years 2020-2021.

Agbaba emphasized that all of these suicides are directly related to the atmosphere of despair and frustration created by the ruling Justice and Development Party.
