PLO urges the international community to confront the Israeli scheme of Judaizing Al-Ibrahimi Mosque

The Palestinian Liberation Organization has called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards stopping the Israeli occupation’s scheme to judaize Al-Ibrahimi Mosque.

According to WAFA News Agency, Member of the PLO’s Executive Bureau Ahmad Al-Tamimi said in a statement on Tuesday that the occupation has begun digging works in the vicinity of Al-Ibrahimi Mosque to establish a road and a settlement bridge that will facilitate the settlers’ infiltrations into other Palestinian lands. These practices aim at changing the historical and cultural features of the mosque and seizing its courtyards as well as the historical sites in its vicinity with the aim of judaizing it, he indicated.

The PLO official called for implementing UNESCO’s decision, issued in July 2017, which classified Al-Ibrahimi Mosque as a Palestinian heritage site. This fact necessitates an urgent action by the international community to confront all the occupation’s judaization’s practices towards the Mosque.

Al-Tamimi made it clear that the occupation authorities are violating all the international laws, norms and agreements regarding Al-Ibrahimi Mosque and the Old City of Al-Khalil. The occupation continues to ban the call to prayer, prevent the Palestinians to reach it and provide protection for the settlers to storm it amid the international community’s silence.
