The number of solar energy projects is increased in the town of Drej in Damascus

Renewable energy projects in the town of Al-Drej in Damascus countryside have started to increase and they are being used for domestic purposes and service projects, especially wells, as they save the costs of using fuel to operate generators.
 
 
Muhammad Al-Gharib, who used recently a solar energy,  said:  “I was one of the first people who used renewable energy at home because of the electricity outage for long time.” 
 
He stressed the importance of expanding the establishment of renewable energy projects to include all sectors, as it is environmentally friendly. 
 
Yassin Qassem, one of the residents of Al-Drej who relied on solar energy to light his house, pointed out to the support provided by the good people who helped some families to install the solar energy. 
 
The head of the Municipal Council in Al-Drej, Engineer Ali Al-Gharib, explained that renwable  energy projects have increased in the town, not only at the level of domestic use, but also service projects, especially wells, as they save the costs of using fuel to run generators. 
 
He said  that the number of houses that are using alternative energy ranges between 50 and 60 houses out of about 400 ones and work is underway to install more. 
 
He  mentioned that one of the donors in the town installed 180 panels with all the requirements to operate one of the water wells in the town, at a cost of more than 120 million Syrian pounds, which helped improve the water situation.
