Iran affirms its commitment to the security of navigation in the Gulf

Iran has strongly condemned a statement from the Group of Seven (G7) which has accused Iran of involvement in last week’s attack on an Israeli tanker in the Sea of Oman.

“We strongly condemn the baseless statement from the foreign ministers of G7 and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy which has leveled groundless accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Saturday.

Khatibzadeh clarified that it is remarkable that such an anti-Iran groundless scenario, which is usually fabricated by the Zionist entity with the aim of creating tension, has many customers that immediately accept untrue and irrational conclusions.

He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully committed to ensuring the security of the strategic waterway of the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, as it is part of its own security.

He pointed out that Iran is still ready for cooperation with the regional countries in creating, establishing and guaranteeing the sustainability of collective security system in the region, and at the same time, it would not hesitate even a bit to defend its sovereign rights in this area.

Iran warns of ‘harsh response’ if enemies retest its power

Meantime, Head of the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh warned the Zionist enemy against any acts of aggression, saying it will face a “harsh response” if they retest Iran’s power.

He made the remarks on Saturday after Israel and Western countries accused Tehran of a an attack on an Israeli-managed tanker off the coast of Oman and threatened a response.

“The Islamic Republic has passed the test and does not need to be re-tested, but if they like, they can retest Iran,” he said.

“They have tested us and they know what response they will face. We have both the power and the will to exercise power. We will certainly deliver a harsh response and they cannot make such a mistake.”
