Damascus (ST): The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China held a reception on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Syria and the 94th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China at the home of the Chinese ambassador in Damascus.
In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Damascus Fong Biao stressed the need to work to advance cooperation between the two countries in order to achieve strategic alliance between the “Belt and Road” initiative and the “Go East” strategy proposed by President Bashar al-Assad years ago, renewing his country’s continued support for the Syrian people and the reconstruction of what was destroyed by terrorism.
The Chinese ambassador pointed to the recent visit of State Counselor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Syria, through which his country sent a clear message to the world that China supports Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and rejects foreign interference in its affairs, indicating that this visit laid a new basis for strategic friendship relations between the two countries noting that the visit added a new dynamism to the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral relations.
The Ambassador pointed out that the practical cooperation between the armies of the two countries has achieved important and new progress in the fight against terrorism.
In his speech, Foreign and Expatriates Minister in the caretaker government, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, stressed the depth of friendship and cooperation between Syria and China, which reflects the hopes and aspirations of the peoples of the two countries in today’s world in which the United States of America and Western countries are trying to directly harm either China or Syria.
Al-Miqdad referred to the assistance provided by China to serve the peoples of the world, pointing to the importance of the “Belt and Road” initiative by supporting developing countries in the fields of industry, roads, cooperation and culture, which will have its impact on the East and West.
Al-Miqdad also referred to the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to Syria, its timing, meanings and significance towards the establishment of relations that are more rooted in various economic, cultural, civilizational, military and security fields, stressing the continuation of the joint struggle against terrorism and the two countries standing side by side in the face of unilateral coercive measures and their aspiration to a world in which the sovereignty of states , freedom and independence prevail.
In a statement to reporters, the Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, affirmed that the relations between the two countries have always been stable and distinguished due to their reliance on principles, pointing out that through Syria’s approach to heading east, we preserve our sovereignty, independence and humanity, and we deal with peoples and countries with whom we share civilization and humanity.
