President Al-Assad issues new decree aiming at supporting national pharmaceutical industry

In support for the national pharmaceutical industry, President Bashar Al-Assad issued the Legislative Decree No. 25 which provides for extending the effect of the Legislative Decree No.14 for 2020 until July 31st, 2022.

According to the decree No.14, the raw materials necessary for pharmaceutical industries as well as production requirements are exempted from customs fees and taxes.

Chairman of the Scientific Council for the Syrian Pharmaceutical Industries, Dr. Rashid Al-Faisal, said that the new decree aims at supporting the national pharmaceutical industry and ensuring that some types of this industry continue to be available in the light of the difficult circumstances resulted of the repercussions of the terrorist war and the economic siege on Syria, which has made it difficult for the country to secure medicine, raw materials and production requirements and has led to an increase in production costs.
