Sabbagh, Ghalibaf discuss the ways of enhancing parliamentary relations between Syria and Iran

DAMASCUS, (ST) –  The Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammouda Sabbagh stressed during his meeting on Wednesday with the Speaker of the Iranian Shoura Council Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the importance of exchanging views and opinions between the Syrian and Iranian sides on various parliamentary, economic and cultural issues for the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

 

During the meeting, Sabbagh talked about the need to  develop the parliamentary cooperation between the People’s Assembly and the Islamic Shoura Council in Iran through the two joint friendship committees.

 

He stressed that there is permanent high-level coordination between the two countries during their participation at international, regional and local conferences. 

 

Sabbagh pointed out that, the exchange of delegations and visits between the two countries comes within the bilateral efforts exerted to enhance cooperation in all fields.

 

For his part, Ghalibaf said that the victory, which Syria achieved through broad popular participation in the presidential elections after the terrorist war that was imposed on it, is a victory for the axis of resistance.

 

He underscored the importance of enhancing economic relations and trade exchange to the level of distinguished political relations between the two friendly countries. 

 

The Speakers of Syrian and Iranian Parliaments held a press conference during which Sabbagh stressed that the two countries and the two friendly peoples in Syria and Iran are united by one destiny and path.

 

 “They are tied in a battle of steadfastness and confrontation to eliminate all forms of hegemony that the United States and Zionism are trying to impose on the peoples of the region.”

 

Sabbagh added that Syria and Iran have proven that they are strong and able to confront their common enemies despite the unjust wars and economic sieges they are subjected to.

 

He pointed out that the meeting with the Iranian side comes within the framework of “organizing and unifying efforts and cooperation between the People’s Assembly and the Iranian Shoura Council through arranging and coordinating positions, conducting consultations, exchanging experiences, visits of parliamentary delegations and activating the work of the friendship committees” for the benefit of the two friendly countries and peoples.

 

Ghalibaf congratulated the government and people of Syria on the return of security and stability to the majority of its lands and the victories it achieved against terrorism.

 

He indicated that the political, defense and military relations between Syria and Iran are in the best conditions, saying that his visit aims to achieve more economic cooperation and preparing the ground for further cooperation between businessmen from the private sector in both friendly countries.
