President Al-Assad’s oath-taking speech a clear and accurate road map for future Syria: Prof. Pablo Sapag
The Spanish-Chilean researcher of Syrian origin, Pablo Sapag, a professor at Madrid Complutense University, has stressed that President Bashar Al-Assad’s speech after taking the oath of office is a clear and accurate road map for Syria in the coming era.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Madrid, Sapag said that President Al-Assad’s oath taking step is important as it affirms the Syrians’ adherence to the constitution of the Syrian state and their rejection of any foreign interference.
“The oath-taking ceremony was held on due time and according to the traditions and customs of the Syrian Arab Republic and it indicates the Syrian state’s institutional strength,” Sapag said.
“In his speech, President Al-Assad draw up a clear and accurate road map for reconstructing Syria and re-launching its economy after years of war waged against the country,” Sapag said, noting that the speech clearly addressed the challenges facing the reconstruction process and focused on the importance of increasing production, modernizing the administrative laws and combating corruption.
Sapag went on to say that President Al-Assad’s speech reiterated Syria’s determination to liberate the Syrian territories from the US and Turkish occupation forces and to maintain its unity and national sovereignty.
He asserted that imposing unilateral coercive measures by the United States and the European Union on Syria, in addition to occupying Syrian territories and stealing the Syrian people’s resources are flagrant violations of international law, UN conventions and all human rights.
“Syria is a unified sovereign state and any foreign-backed separatist attempt will be doomed to failure because it contradicts the historical will of the resistant Syrian people and the principles of the United Nations concerning the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states,” Sapag concluded.
