Syria, Iran discuss ways of enhancing cultural and academic cooperation

TEHRAN, (ST)_ Ways of enhancing the joint Syrian-Iranian scientific, cultural and academic cooperation were the main topics that were discussed on Sunday by  Syria’s Ambassador to Iran Shafiq Dayoub and the Rector of the University of Islamic Doctrines in Iran Sayyed Mohammad Hosseini.
 
The two sides held a meeting at the headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Tehran. 
 
Dayoub talked about the importance of enhancing scientific cooperation between the two countries as one the priorities at this stage with the aim of upgrading them to the level of political and strategic relations between Syria and Iran. 
 
“ We have been partners in the war against terrorism and we hope to be partners in reconstructing of what has been destroyed by terrorism in Syria , particularly the educational infrastructure  which was greatly damaged as a result of the terrorist acts,” he added .
 
He underlined that the work is still going on to enhance the cooperation in the scientific and the technological fields where a draft of agreement has been prepared in this regard to be signed in the near future.
 
For his part, Hosseini said that the relations between Iran and Syria will witness further development and cooperation during the new stage in scientific, cultural and economic fields.
 
He underscored that wide popular participation in the recent Syrian presidential elections indicates the defeat of enemies of Syria and the triumph of the resistance.
 
Hosseini asserted the readiness of  the Iranian University to admit the Syrian students at all levels of education.
