Israeli occupation’s annexation procedures in the occupied Syrian Golan are void, United Nations reaffirms
The United Nations has reaffirmed that the Israeli occupation’s annexation procedures in the occupied Syrian Golan are void and illegal, criticizing the occupation’s violations of the rights of the Syrian citizens in Golan.
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) said in a periodical report distributed in Beirut that “compliance with the international law and non-impunity are prerequisites for achieving peace and justice for all the peoples of the region.”
The report, which covers the period between April, 2020 to March 2021, also noted the impossibility of achieving sustainable development in the occupied Palestinian territories in the light of the continuity of the Israeli occupation and its aggressive and oppressive practices against the Palestinians.
It asserted the need to halt all the Israeli measures that impede anti-coronavirus efforts in the occupied Palestinian territories and to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in this domain.
The report stressed that the Israeli occupation’s measures and policies in the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including the crimes of killing the Palestinians, the siege imposed on Gaza Strip and settlement expansion contradict and violate the international law.
Last year was the worst for the Palestinian economy since 2002. It suffered from a 11.5% deflation.
