Turkish politicians: Erdogan’s statements about his ideological agreement with the Taliban are an acknowledgment of his identification with extremist groups

Ankara (ST): The statements of the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyep Erdogan,  that there is no ideological dispute between his regime and the extremist Afghan Taliban movement provoked condemning reactions in the Turkish political and media circles, which affirmed that this acknowledgment is not a slip of the tongue of the head of a regime accustomed to supporting terrorist organizations in the region but a clear recognition of his identification with the ideology of extremist groups. 

Former Turkish Culture Minister Fikri Saglar denounced Erdogan’s statements  saying that  it seems clear that what Erdogan said is not a slip of the tongue, but a clear recognition that Erdogan has one ideology with all extremist groups, indicating that this was proven in Erdogan’s constant support for terrorist organizations in Syria. 

In turn, retired General Turkar Erturk criticized Erdogan’s statements and said: “Erdogan may ideologically agree with the Taliban, but the Turkish people’s creed has nothing to do with the Taliban terrorist creed.”

Erdogan had expected earlier that his country’s government would agree with the Afghan Taliban movement on the possibilities of the Turkish military presence in Afghanistan, and said that it is very natural that we agree with the Taliban because we agree with them in the doctrine, which will facilitate the process of dialogue and understanding.
