Poet Jamil Haddad honored at the Arab Cultural Centre in Abu Rummaneh with the participation of his friends and fans

Damascus (ST): The biography of the poet ,Jamil Haddad, summarizes many aspects on the national and humanitarian levels. The poet, who was born in the countryside of Lattakia in 1935, was a strong participant in the Syrian political scene in the 1960s of the last century, crowning his journey with three collections of poetry he issued in the last decade.

In appreciation of his creative career  and his national role, the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh held a seminar on the experience of Haddad, the human fighter, and the poet, entitled (The Pillars of Creativity), in which a group of cultural and intellectual personalities from the friends of the celebrated poet took part.

In a speech he delivered, the honored poet expressed his happiness with the welcome he received after his return  to  the homeland, because it is the most precious feeling  in existence and we have to preserve it for the next generation as our fathers did to keep it strong, dear, and impregnable.

His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, Dr. Ahmed Badr El-Din Hassoun, praised Haddad’s cultural and social life path which was  full of loyalty, honor and honesty, and its reflection on his literary and poetic writings.

The poet Haddad recited a  poem entitled (The Sword and the Pen), which dealt with the presence of Damascus throughout history and the need to preserve the spirit of steadfastness in it.

In turn, Dr. Ali Suleiman gave a brief overview of Haddad’s life and his knowledge of his many virtues and qualities for forty years ago, indicating that he was not changed by circumstances or different situations and that his literature is characterized by honesty, values, human dimension, love, conscience and loyalty.

Poet Muhammad Hudaifi, pointed out in his introduction that Haddad is a benevolent person who spends most of his time helping people and has managed throughout his life to overcome the difficult circumstances and suffering in which he grew up.

Poet Mohammad Hassan Al-Ali also spoke about the artistic values that distinguished Jamil Haddad’s poetry and the images, emotions and artistic formations in it. 

For his part, the poet Dr. Saber Falhout talked about the interrelationship between Haddad’s poetry, his behavior, his love for people and the country, and his quest to promote the use of artistic values in his texts.
