A Syrian-Iraqi agreement on cooperation in confronting climate changes and the possibility of establishing joint scientific projects

Damascus (ST): The Syrian and Iraqi sides in the ministries of water resources in the two countries discussed issues of common concern regarding the challenges faced by the water reality in light of the current conditions, the reduction of imports in the Tigris and Euphrates rivers by the Turkish regime, and the climatic changes that the region is facing.

During the technical meetings held  at the Damarose Hotel, headed by Ministers Dr. Tammam Ra’ad and Engineer Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, the two sides also reviewed the latest developments in the water situation, ways and mechanisms for exchanging data and information between the two ministries, activating the joint measurement mechanism for the Euphrates River expenditures, and exchanging technical expertise.

The two sides also agreed to cooperate in facing climate changes and ways to adapt to them, the possibility of establishing joint scientific projects in this field, and intensifying joint meetings at the ministerial and technical levels, whether in person or virtually.
