Sputnik quoted the Foreign Ministry as saying in a report published today on the human rights situation in some countries: “The United States continues its grave violations of human rights both internally and externally, through illegal unilateral coercive measures and the greatest example of this is the imposed and continuous blockade against Cuba despite several UN General Assembly resolutions condemning the embargo and calling for it to be lifted.
The Ministry added: “However, this does not prevent Americans from presenting themselves as a the global standard in the field of protection of basic freedoms, and even non-governmental organizations loyal to Washington recognize that the human rights situation is getting worse every year.”
Last April, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova criticized the US State Department’s report on the situation of human rights in the world, describing it as empty and that the part devoted to the situation in Russia is saturated with double standards.
