Amman (ST): Jordanian Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh called for taking all necessary measures to restart the Jaber border crossing opposite the Syrian Nassib Crossing at full capacity and to ensure the smooth flow of its work through the continued movement of people and freight.
Jordan’s Petra news agency reported that Al-Khasawneh directed the Minister of Interior, Mazen Al-Faraya, during an inspection tour at the Jaber border center, to stop the work of the reciprocal freight transport system as soon as possible to ensure the smooth flow of materials, with an emphasis on adherence to the necessary health and preventive requirements.
Al-Khasawneh requested to increase the number of arrivals through the crossing to 500 people per day instead of 150, in addition to allowing people from different nationalities to leave through the crossing without obtaining approval from the Ministry of Interior.
Al-Khasawneh also directed Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahya Al-Kasabi to expedite the procedures for developing the necessary infrastructure in line with the approach to almost completely open the crossing according to clear and accurate timetables, stressing that the delay is not acceptable.
