THE HAGUE, (ST)_Chairperson of the Syrian mission to the Organization for the Prohibition of chemical Weapons (OPCW) Rania Al-Refaei says that the organization has turned into a tool of pressure on Syria to make false accusations against it with the aim of serving the agendas of some countries and passing the claims of terrorist organizations.
Speaking before the 97th session of the OPCW’s Executive Council, Al-Refaei clarified that Syria joined OPCW convention in 2013 and fulfilled its obligations despite the terror war that has been waged on it by certain states.
She referred to the fact that the states that have been involved in the terror war on Syria sent 400.000 terrorists from 80 states and trained them and financed them as well as providing them with political and media cover to target Syria and its people.
Al-Refaei reiterated that the mechanism of OPCW contradicts the principles of professionalism and credibility and this was clear in its reports on Syria, pointing out that the US posses the biggest chemical arsenal that poses a threat to international peace and security.
On May, 6, 2021, Syria’s Permanent representative to UN Bassam Sabbagh reiterated that Syria has never used chemical weapons and it condemns the use of these weapons by anyone, at any time and anywhere, adding that the hostile decision that was passed against it at the conference of Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) represents a bad example of the organization’s dealing with the states that are member of it and its submission to the western countries.
