Raed Khalil’s cartoon about necessity of dialogue to renounce violence wins award in Slovakia

A cartoon about the necessity of adopting dialogue to renounce violence and force, by Syrian cartoonist Raed Khalil, won the special prize in the Brain Sneezing International Competition in Slovakia.

The theme of the competition, which witnessed a wide participation of cartoonists in the world, revolved around inviting people to confront violence in elegant ways and to change the nature of conflicts to a path away from bloodshed and oppression of others.

Khalil’s winning painting depicts a group of ideas facing the iron fist, referring to the role of dialogue and that the word is stronger than any weapon.

Khalil has previously won several awards in the last two months from the Golden Apple Festival in Romania and the Seventh International Verizage in Kosovo.
