The Palestinian prisoner Abu Atwan continues his hunger strike for the 61st consecutive day

The Palestinian prisoner in the Israeli jails Al-Ghadanfar Abu Atwan on Sunday announced that he will refrain from drinking water as he continues his hunger strike for the 61st day in a row in protest against his unfair detention without charge or trial.

Abu Atwan refrains from drinking water amid dangerous deterioration of his health condition that poses a threat to his life, Maan news agency reported.

According to the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission, Abu Atwan is suffering from a severe deficiency in the amount of fluid in the body that endangers the functions of the vital organs in his body, including the heart and kidneys. He’s also experiencing permanent fatigue and headaches, as he refuses to receive any nutritional supplements.

It stressed that the Israeli authorities’ rejection to release Abu Atwan is nothing but a slow murder, urging the international community and concerned organizations to pressure the occupation in order to immediately release the prisoner and save his life before it is too late.
