Afforestation campaign in Tishreen Park in Damascus

 With the participation of 150 Syrian Special Olympics champions with intellectual disabilities, the Syrian Special Olympics Foundation, in cooperation with Damascus Governorate, organized an afforestation campaign in Tishreen Park in Damascus.

A number of Olympic champions expressed their joy at working and contributing to the service of society.

Judo playerAmjad Al-Araj and handball player Mohammed Maree highlighted the importance of planting trees for the return of the green color to our country and pushing forward the wheel of the country’s reconstruction.

Judo player Sherine Hassan and volleyball player Mohamed Maher said the event proved that they are an important part of the community that can be relied upon to beautify it.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Olympiad Foundation, Tarif Qutrash, noted that the event also aims to support and integrate people with intellectual disabilities into society by returning to nature to take positive energy and go to work, pointing out that there are many local and international participations for them.

The Director of Parks in Damascus Governorate, Eng. Sumer Farfour, pointed out that those champions  possess the energies, skills and will for life through their full work without assistance and with joy, happiness and activity, indicating that about 300 trees, orange trees, white jasmine and ornamental shrubs were planted.
