Popova: Russian vaccines protect against mutated strains of corona

Moscow (ST): The head of the Russian Consumer Protection Agency, Anna Popova, confirmed that Russian vaccines against the Coronavirus protect against mutated strains of the virus.

Sputnik news agency quoted Popova as saying today during the International Health Conference held in Moscow that all the mutated strains are under one name, Corona, and each new strain of the virus is slightly stronger than the previous one, but it is still the same virus and all Russian vaccines protect against this disease.

She indicated that the vaccine faces corona even when the disease develops, and she said in this regard that the disease may develop, but it will be mild and will not cause complications in the future.

She added that it is not possible to know how the virus will mutate in the future and to which strain it will mutate, so we may have to invent new vaccines that fit the new mutation.

She pointed out that by 2024, the Russian state’s need for testing systems, vaccines and protective equipment must be covered by 100 percent, and by 2030, global leadership in epidemiology must be achieved and learning to diagnose and analyze characteristics, methods of infection and protection from previously unknown infections within 24 hours.
