Belarusian Ambassador to Syria: Syrians voted during the presidential elections for their future and their desire to live in peace

Damascus (ST): The Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Syria, Yuri Sluka, said that the Syrians voted during the recent presidential elections for their future, their lives and their desire to live in peace and prosperity, expressing once again his country’s support for Syria, its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In an interview with SANA on the occasion of his country’s National Day, which coincides with the day Belarus was liberated from Nazism on the 3rd of July, Sluka congratulated the Syrians on the success of the elections, noting that a large number of Syrians voted for their leader with blood drops.

Sluka indicated that a number of Western countries mistakenly believe that they can influence the internal affairs of sovereign states by imposing unilateral coercive measures and besieging peoples economically, indicating that his country understands Syria’s suffering in light of the coercive measures and stifling sanctions, that Belarus has suffered  from -in addition to an imposed siege about 25 years ago.

The Ambassador of Belarus congratulated his country, people and leadership on the National Day, hoping for the continuation of the presence of true and reliable friends by its side, such as Syria, expressing his confidence that the two friendly countries will overcome adversity together, which will give them strength and deepen the friendship between them, especially that difficult times bring friends closer to each other.

Sluka affirmed his country’s continued support for Syria in international forums and its firm stance rejecting the siege, pressures and sanctions that affect peoples, indicating that only Syrians have the right to determine their future and their way of living, and that no one has the right to occupy lands of Syria, displace the population by force, and plunder the country’s resources and wealth.

Sluka indicated that his country is looking for any way to support Syria, especially with regard to social and economic life, and that it has pioneering industries in machinery and equipment, with good quality and large production, pointing out that the Syrian delegation participating in the work of the joint committee for cooperation between the two countries in Minsk will have the opportunity to visit factories and laboratories and see first-hand on what Belarus produces in this field.
